Surveys
RF survey carried out to collect on field data needed for RF (Radio Frequency) requirement. RF Survey report encloses : more specific point site position on map, site address, GPS coordinate; RF obstacles; coverage area cell site; photos for site environment, panoramic 360 degree; site conclusion; antenna type, placement, direction, and tilting. A Standard RF Survey report will be used as a reference to arrange RF Network planning in radio network design process. RF surveys can be divided into in-building and macro cell RF survey, which each has different characteristic and concept.
Transmission survey carried out to avoid obstacle for microwave transmission and decide which transmission system used to achieve good performance as customer requirement, and site details to accommodate all transmission network planning requirement. Transmission survey report encloses : site address with GPS coordinate, map and site situation; existing transmission equipment data: type of transmission, frequencies, configuration and capacity; Line of sight and Path loss calculation, placement of transmission equipment; site readiness including: space for equipments, estimation time for implementation, tower, power resources and back up availability; access way; photos of site situation, equipment placement, panoramic 360 degree. A customize standard transmission survey report will be used as reference to arrange Transmission Network Planning in process Transmission Network Design for site conclusion about type of transmission, frequencies, configuration and capacity to be used.
BSC/BTS survey carried out to check the site readiness before implementation to avoid problem during the installation equipment process. BSC/BTS survey report encloses : site address with GPS coordinate and appoint site in the map; site situation; arrangement BTS/BSC equipment placement, site readiness included : estimation for implementation, equipment placement, tower, power supply and back up availability; access way; photos of site situation, equipment placement, panoramic 360 degree, site conclusion. A standard BTS/BSC site survey report will be used as a reference site in BTS/BSC Design engineering process.
Radio frequency survey is to conduct a scanning of the frequencies which will be used by radio equipments on site location. It is intended to know what inteference level present on site location and ensure that interference level still in a range of customer requirement. The survey report will be used by network planner to decide if needed to make a change of frequency allocation.
- Site Hunting & Site Acquisition (SITAC)
Site hunting is a preliminary survey before other kind of surveys, to find ideal space site closest to the nominal RF Network and Transmission Network designed. The result are list of some candidate sites which space is suitable with BTS/BSC, Transmission Network and RF Network requirement, each candidate enclosed with : position in map, space situation, address, contact person, GPS coordinate, photos of space situation and panoramic 360 degree, and site conclusion with all remark. All reports are in a standard site survey report customized for specific customer. And after the site hunting, there will be site acquisition to make sure that the land point which has been approved by engineering, can be installed with the new infrastructure. This works will need to solve all permit needed which are complex in our country and should be handled by experienced site acquisition engineers.
Installation, Testing, Commissioning, Integration, and Site Quality Audit
- Installation of BSC/BTS/MW Transmission/Fiber Optical Transmission System (FOTS)
Installation of BSC/BTS/MW Transmission/Fiber Optical Transmission System (FOTS) with high standard and good quality, as instructed and standardized, following the installation binder or depends on the site situation to achieve high performance of equipments, long life time, and avoid any danger for the environment.
- Laying, Splicing, and Terminating of Fibre Optic Cable
Laying of fibre optic cable : to perform running fibre optic cable under ground or through cable tray above ground according to cable route in technical drawing.
Splicing of fibre optic cable : Two optical fiber splicing methods are available for permanent joining of two optical fibers. Both methods provide much lower insertion loss compared to fiber connectors.
1. Fiber optic cable fusion splicing – Insertion loss < 0.1dB
2. Fiber mechanical splicing – Insertion loss < 0.5dB
Fiber optic cable fusion splicing provides the lowest-loss connection. Special equipment called fusion splicer is used to perform the fiber fusion splicing. The fusion splicer performs optical fiber fusion splicing in two steps.
1. Precisely align the two fibers
2. Generate a small electric arc to melt the fibers and weld them together
Fiber optic cable mechanical splicing is an alternate splicing technique which does not require a fusion splicer. Mechanical splicing uses a small, mechanical splice, about 6cm long and 1cm in diameter that permanently joins the two optical fibers. A mechanical splice is a small fiber connector that precisely aligns two bare fibers and then secures them mechanically. A snap-type cover, an adhesive cover, or both, are used to permanently fasten the splice. Fiber optic cable mechanical splices are small, quite easy to use, and are very handy for either quick repairs or permanent installations. They are available in permanent and reenterable types. Fiber optic cable mechanical splices are available for single mode or multimode fibers. Their connection loss are usually less than 0.5dB which is much bigger than a 0.1dB fusion splice.
Terminating of fibre optic cable : to install connectors on the ends of a fibre optic cable.
- Testing, Commissioning, and Integration of BSC/BTS/MW Transmission/ Fiber Optical Transmission System (FOTS)
Testing and Commissioning BSC/BTS/Transmission/Fiber Optical Transmission System (FOTS) service is to check all performances of equipments as a final check of installed equipments versus design/installation binder before handover to the customer or fully operated. For BSC : check installaion, configuration (software and hardware, number of TRHs, etc), connections, alarm indication, functional and performance. For transmission: check installation, capacity, configuration, and alarm indication, performance link. For Base Transceiver Station: check installation including: feeder VSWR, capacity, configuration, alarm indication, frequency cell/ARFCN (Absolute Radio Frequency Channel Number) being used, time slot, power back up system. Integration test performs integration of a BTS to the existing network to ensure the new BTS to have a good radio performance in the network. For Fiber Optical Transmission Sistem (FOTS) : check installation, capacity, configuration, add drop mapping, and alarm indication.
Site Quality Audit installation is carried out to check the quality of installation equipment workmanship on site to make sure that all equipments installed in right way and without any mayor or minor impact to the environment and the equipments themselves. This service is performed as an optional service required by customer.

- Network Management System (NMS)
Effective planning for a network management system requires that a number of network management tasks be performed. The network management system should discover the network inventory, monitor the health and status of devices and provide alerts to conditions that impact system performance.
NMS systems make use of various protocols for the purpose they serve. For example, SNMP protocol allows them to simply gather the information from the various devices down the network hierarchy. NMS software is responsible for identification of a problem, the exact source(s) of the problem, and solving them. NMS systems not only are responsible for the detection of faults, but also for collecting device statistics over a period of time. An NMS may include a library of previous network statistics along with problems and solutions that were successful in the past—useful if faults recur. NMS software can then search its library for the best possible method to resolve a particular problem.
An NMS manages the Network Elements. These elements or devices are managed by the NMS, so these devices used to call as managed devices. Device management includes Faults, Accounting, Configuration, Performance, and Security (FCAPS) management. Each of these five functions is specific to an organization, but the basic idea to manage these devices is FCAPS.
